MS. PEREZ'S CLASSROOM · NOTE

Second grade supplies are ready

The district list, trimmed to what Room 14 actually uses — with honest notes on what to skip. Shared stock covers the rest.

The official district list has twenty-four items on it. Room 14 needs about half of them, so here is the honest version before you spend a Saturday at three stores.

Yes: two composition notebooks (wide rule), one plastic folder per kid, pencils (a dozen, any brand), one pack of glue sticks, and headphones that fold. Headphones matter most. The school pairs are shared and always broken by October.

Skip: the 24-count crayon boxes (we have a class set), the pencil sharpener (banned, loud), the four-pack of dry erase markers (I only ever hand out one), and anything labeled organizer. Second graders do not organize. They stack.

If the list is a stretch this month, send the notebooks and stop there. Shared stock covers everything else, no questions, no notes home. That's what it's for.
